InterPlay

Welcome

InterPlay is an active, creative way to unlock the wisdom of the body. This philosophy and technique is based in the creative arts, giving us access to our stories, movement, songs and silence, in an easy, improvisational way. It is designed to help people build community, create health, and lead their lives with artfulness.

InterPlay is also a global social movement and is used as a basic component of peace-making. It’s currently being used in over 60 cities on 6 continents, by people of all ages, cultures and abilities.

InterPlayers come in all shapes and sizes. It is intergenerational, multicultural and interfaith. InterPlay’s multi-disciplinary creative methods are used in daily life, relationships, performance, therapy, ritual, business, and education.

InterPlay opens paths of connection between people of all sorts—in prison, schools, between cultures and faiths. People are using InterPlay with children, elders, multi-cultural groups, schools, healthcare, community development projects, prisons, peace-building programs, and many other applications.

InterPlay was created by Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter. They are philosophers, speakers, teachers, and performers. They began developing the InterPlay practice and philosophy in 1989 and have been sharing it around the world ever since. They are co-directors of the non-profit organization Body Wisdom, Inc., based in Oakland, California, which encompasses all InterPlay activities.
